The Detroit Lions have established a forward-thinking approach when it comes to locking in key players early, positioning themselves advantageously amid the fluctuating market values for various positions in the NFL.
Last offseason, the Lions made significant moves by extending multiple players that GM Brad Holmes and HC Dan Campbell have identified as “Core” leaders for the Detroit Lions future. These contracts came with a high average annual value (AAV) that at the time were the new standards for position salaries.
